Here are some poems I wrote for my creative writing class that are inspired by AG. Tell me what you think, and enjoy
"It Came"
Seeing the package
on the doorstep.
Reading the address
on the label.
Taking the box
into the room.
Grabbing the scissors
to open the package.
Tossing away
the white styrofoam peanuts
Glancing I see
the burgandy boxes within.
"Kayaking Girl" (on Jess catalog pic with her in the kayak)
In a blow-up kayak,
along an ocean of blue cloth
the beach and sky are fake
but oh that happy face.
She sits there rowing along
into the wild unknown.
Her hair shines in the sun;
she's trying something new.
Although the face never changes,
she almost seems alive
Perhaps she is to people somewhere
no matter if they're young or old.
"The New Sister"
The water swirls around from the rain
The birds fly away to protect themselves
As they fly, the rain stops in Maine
The dollies wake up from inside the shelves
Around the room, they start to climb down
They follow each other up to the door
The dollies all want to go out of town
They open the door, then fall to the floor
Just outside the sun brightly shines
The blooming flowers are all sweet
The dollies form into two lines
They play a game and they all meet
The UPS Man, who they call Mister
Happily he brings their new sister.
